About Project Access NOW
Connecting people to health care. Today.
About Project Access NOW
Project Access of Northwest Oregon & Washington (Project Access NOW) is a regional organization that facilitates collaboration for local Project Access initiatives in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington, including those in Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah and Washington Counties.
Project Access NOW coordinates the volunteer network of physicians in the four counties of the Portland Metropolitan Area; it is not an insurance plan, and does not guarantee any specific care. Project Access is committed to helping people connect to the care they need. Today.
Project Access NOW and its participating counties are pleased to be part of a nationally-proven model that exists in over fifty communities nationwide. Project Access makes the very best uses of already existing resources while we, as a community, develop a broader health care solution.
Statement of Purpose
Project Access NOW (Northwest Oregon and Washington) is a non-profit organization with the unique challenge of supporting local efforts in Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah, and Washington Counties to maximize resources and efforts to provide access to health care and improve health outcomes for the low-income uninsured in the Portland Metropolitan Area.
Our focus includes volunteer recruitment and organization, securing stable funding, and wise stewardship of community health resources. Project Access NOW is an interim step that will provide needed services, create very little additional (and no duplicative) infrastructure, and will foster relationships that will ultimately be crucial in order to implement any significant health care reform in our area.
Goals
Our effort is focused on implementing and managing a volunteer physician network that provides access to medically necessary care for low-income uninsured people in our service area.
Our primary goal is to expand health care access and improve health outcomes for the low-income uninsured residents of Clark, Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas Counties through wise stewardship of community health resources. By helping the low-income uninsured navigate the health care system, Project Access can get people the care they need. Today.
Participating Counties
Project Access Clackamas County is in the early stages of developing a program, and is eager to join other counties in the Project Access NOW network in expanding access to health care for the low-income uninsured communities in our area.
Project Access Clark County is pleased to become the fifth county in Washington State to implement Project Access, launching PACC as a program of Free Clinic of Southwest Washington in March, 2008.
Project Access Multnomah County is next step for DOCS (Doctors Offering Community Service)—the 20 year specialty access program in Portland. The new program with its expanded resources begins March 1, 2008, completing the transition in April, 2008. A program of the Coalition of Community Health Clinics since it’s inception twenty years ago.
Project Access Washington County is building momentum for its Project Access pilot program in April, 2008 as an exciting new program of the Essential Health Clinic.
