WELCOME TO PROJECT ACCESS CLARK COUNTY!

Program Overview

Project Access Clark County is a physician-led initiative that organizes donated specialty and primary care services to the uninsured low-income communities in Clark County. As a program of Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, Project Access Clark County acknowledges, quantifies and coordinates physician charity care, and spreads that care more equitably amongst physicians.

Project Access makes it easier for physicians who are already caring for the uninsured to better manage and coordinate that care. Project Access Clark County launched a small pilot program in March 2008 launch began in July, 2008.

Regional Collaboration

Project Access works. Project Access is a nationally replicated model that exists in over fifty communities nationwide. Project Access Clark County is pleased to become the fifth county in Washington State to successfully develop and implement the Project Access model.

Project Access Clark County is excited to launch its pilot program in cooperation with other local initiatives in the Project Access of Northwest Oregon & Washington (Project Access NOW) network, including those in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties. Project Access NOW aids all participating counties in collaboration and optimizing economies of scale.

About the Program

If a patient’s medical condition is an emergency and needs to be treated immediately, the patient should go to the nearest Emergency Room. If the patient’s medical condition is urgent but not an emergency, services are available at Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, Sea Mar Community Health Center, or New Heights Medical Clinic.

If a physician feels an uninsured low-income patient needs to see a medical specialist, the physician may refer the patient to Project Access Clark County. Physician referrals can come from any practicing physician, including those at Sea Mar Community Health Center, New Heights Medical Clinic, and Free Clinic of Southwest Washington.

Once a patient has been referred to Project Access Clark County, our Patient Care Coordinator will contact the patient to schedule enrollment appointments. The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for handling all patient specialty referrals and coordinating patient enrollment procedures.

Once a patient has been enrolled in Project Access Clark County, our Patient Care Coordinator will assist in scheduling all necessary specialty health care appointments and follow-up care.
