Welcome Physicians and other Providers

None of this is possible without the commitment and dedication of our volunteer physicians and other healthcare providers for which we are deeply grateful.

Physicians Help the Medically Underserved

You are probably doing it already, seeing patients who can’t afford their care. We make it easier for you to do this. This program connects volunteer physicians, medical sub specialists, and other healthcare providers with eligible safety net clinic patients.

Every patient has a primary provider or medical home.

All necessary ancillary services are included.

Every health system is providing labs, imaging, inpatient & outpatient services.

Each patient has a pharmacy benefit.

No more calling in favors from your peers, or struggling to help patients without other medical resources. We will take care of all the details for you — allowing both you, the physician, and the patient

THE FREEDOM TO FOCUS ON HEALING

Isn’t that why you decided to practice medicine in the first place?

Multnomah County is currently recruiting medical sub specialists. Primary care volunteers will be utilized later in the year. If you are a Primary Care Physician who would like to volunteer at a safety net clinic please view Safety Net Clinic Volunteer Opportunities

Wrap Around Care

Safety Net Clinics work together to provide primary care and support for referred patients. Necessary care coordination will be provided to assist the patient in following treatment recommendations and in accessing ancillary services and medication.

Medical Referral Guidelines

Medical Referral Guidelines for specialty and other medical referrals are provided as a resource for the preparation of referrals. These are standard guidelines and are meant as “guidelines” only. They include descriptions of

  • Diagnosis/Definition
  • Initial Diagnosis and Management
  • Ongoing Management and Objectives
  • Indications for Specialty Care
  • and Criteria for Return to Primary Care

Ways to Volunteer

See Patients at your Practice

Physicians decide the number of patients they will see each year. Medical specialists usually accept 8-12 cases per year.

Volunteer at Safety Net Clinics

Physicians interested in providing a Specialty Clinic on site at a coalition clinic may call 503.517.2005 for more information. Physicians generally donate between 4—12 clinics per year.

A Volunteer Prospective

“My experience with a recent referral for behavioral health services was favorable and appropriate. The patient was carefully selected and is responding well to treatment. He is highly motivated and open to behavioral techniques to help self manage a chronic condition. Overall, this has been a very positive experience. I would like to thank the staff that made this referral possible.”
