- Pharmacy Program

The Pharmacy Bridge provides a regional resource for access to medication for low-income, uninsured people, including Project Access patients. Individuals enrolled in Project Access receive a pharmacy card which allows them to fill prescriptions at local pharmacies from a limited generic formulary.

Physicians, Pharmacists and other Health Care Providers
Using Pharmacy Bridge to meet the medication needs of Project Access patients is simple:
- Patients receive a pharmacy ID card from their local program. Instructions and limitations are included on the letter accompanying the card.
- Volunteer physicians receive a copy of the approved formulary and are asked to prescribe medications on the formulary.
- Patients take the prescription and their ID card to any of the pharmacies that participate with Providence Health Plan (prefer Fred Meyer, Costco and Walgreens) and receive medications on the formulary for a $4 co-pay.
If there are problems with the pharmacy, or if patients need a medication that is not on the formulary, call 503-954-1746. Responses could take up to 24 hours and not all needs will be able to be met.

Patients
The Pharmacy Bridge is a limited and temporary resource for medication. It provides access to many common medications for a limited amount of time. It does not provide access to every type of medication. If you need assistance, have questions about the Pharmacy Bridge program, or have trouble at a pharmacy, you can call Project Access NOW at 503-954-1746 during regular business hours. Responses could take up to 24 hours and not all needs will be able to be met. This program is not designed to provide urgent access to medication.
Please remember that your Pharmacy Bridge ID card is to be used only for medications prescribed to you by a Project Access volunteer. Misuse of this card and the purchase of medications not prescribed by Project Access volunteers will cause you to no longer be eligible for Project Access.
Project Access NOW is a non-profit, volunteer program. Medications are being purchased by a grant from Providence Health Plan. You can help us provide as much support as possible by doing these things:
- Take your prescriptions to Fred Meyer, Costco, or Walgreens. We get the best price from those pharmacies.
- If you have trouble at a pharmacy – do not panic! Call 503-954-1746 during regular business hours and we will do what we can to help you.
- If your physician gives you samples of a medication we cannot buy for you, please call us at 503-954-1746, so that we can explore other resources for you to get your medication affordably.
Pharmacy Bridge is a collaboration between Project Access NOW and Providence Health Plans
