Another Open House, another milestone
So many different people care about Project Access NOW and our work for so many different reasons. It was fun to see that nice mix of individuals come together in the same place to celebrate Project Access NOW. On September 14th, more than 70 people joined us at our 2nd Open House, enjoying burgers, salmon, wine and other goodies on the back patio of our new headquarters in northwest Portland. Representatives from hospitals, community organizations, the State of Oregon as well as volunteer providers, community volunteers, board members, family members, and others who recognize the importance of healthcare access demonstrated the broad reach Project Access NOW has in the healthcare community.
A huge word of appreciation goes to
- Board member Kari Stanley (pictured, left, with Janet Philips) and Legacy Health for the in-kind donation of space for our growing office.
- Brenda Vogeltanz and Gourmet Productions for donating 100 fabulous cookies – Community Volunteer Kathi Misner for securing the cookies.
- VX Vineyard which donated wine and gave 15% of wine sales to Project Access NOW, raising a total of $110. Thank you everyone who bought wine!
A special thank you goes to these amazing volunteers who made the Open House happen: Kathi Misner, Vicki Cameron, Debbie Rieke, and Janet Williams. We’re very thankful for these women’s time and effort. These four super-volunteers are in every week, doing a lot of things, from chart reviews (three are nurses) to volunteer scheduling to events. They also made last April’s “Bridges to Healthcare” event happen. We’re already looking forward to the next event on April 7th, 2010. We hope you can join us!
Sincerely,
Linda Nilsen-Solares
