Welcome to Project Access Washington County!

Coordinating Our Community

Project Access Washington County (PAWC) is a nationally replicated model that coordinates volunteer physician and other health care provider efforts to treat the neediest in our community. Project Access Washington County will begin enrolling patients in April, 2008.

Working to Make it Easy

Project Access has worked in over 50 communities to coordinate donated care for low-income, uninsured patients with a specific medical need. Project Access distributes the patient load equitably and coordinates care and ancillary services, making it an easy and organized way to donate care and receive recognition for services physicians may already be providing.

Successful Relationships

Project Access strives to create a successful experience for both physician and patient by streamlining the process for giving and receiving donated care. Physicians are asked to make a voluntary, limited commitment to a certain number of patients per year. Care Coordinators provide support to physicians and office staff to make caring for a Project Access patient similar to caring for an insured patient.

Serving the Most Vulnerable in our Community

Project Access is not an insurance program, nor is it an entitlement program. There are strict requirements for patients participating in the program, and all patients are screened individually by PAWC Staff for eligibility. Working with a Care Coordinator for any needed support, patient’s interaction with physicians and other health care professionals is courteous, timely, and most of all, successful.

Our Network

There are currently over 1,700 physicians involved in the Project Access effort in the Portland area.
