Joseph Ichter, MHA, DrPH

In his role with Providence, Joe oversees approximately $65 million in pro-active community benefit spending, including grants, programs, and other community investments that serve to lift up our most vulnerable communities. As the primary conduit between the community and health system, he represents Providence on a variety of boards, community councils, and collaborative initiatives. Prior to starting with Providence in May of 2018, he gained over 25 years of health care experience spanning public and private sector roles and academic and health services delivery roles, in both domestic and globally-based positions. Most recently he spent six years working with the Palladium Group, an international development consultancy, as a Senior Health Advisor on programs spanning from Central Asia to the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Prior to this work, he served as OHSU’s Assistant Vice Provost for Community Partnership. Joe has a Master of Health Administration and a Doctorate in Public Health, both from the University of Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Health.
