June 2022: Meet PANOW’s staff + we are hiring

By June 21, 2022 No Comments

June is Pride Month

Happy Pride! At Project Access NOW, we are proud of our efforts to foster an inclusive workplace as well as equitable programs that serve those most at risk for negative health outcomes. Inclusion is a key tenant in our organizational structure. We hold space for diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and identities internally and with our partners.

At PANOW, we celebrate the end of overt enslavement of African American individuals; and we stand strong in our work alongside our clients and partners to undo centuries of racist and oppressive policies that still exist in our systems. Again this year, Project Access NOW was closed (on Monday June 20) in observance of the Juneteenth holiday to allow staff time with their families and friends.

PANOW Celebrates 15 Years!

Since 2007, Project Access NOW has served Oregon, fighting to secure equitable access to health care and resources for those made most vulnerable. We will celebrate throughout the year, but recently had the pleasure of looking back on our accomplishments and celebrating 15 years with our health system and community partners. Watch event video here.

Thank you to all who have contributed to this work and to those who continue to make our mission possible!

Meet Rebecca Raab, Director of Public Relations & Development

Rebecca joined the Project Access NOW team in 2022 after serving as a development consultant for several years. Rebecca has a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and is particularly interested in how the built environment impacts health. Prior to moving to Oregon, Rebecca lived in Chicago, IL and worked as Development Director at a culturally-specific organization. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys hiking, camping, and growing entirely too many tomatoes.

Says Rebecca, “Project Access NOW excels at making health care and services accessible to individuals from a range of backgrounds and circumstances. I am excited to be a part of communicating this mission and increasing its impact through community engagement.”

Meet our Community Health Worker (CHW) Team

Did you know that PANOW currently has seven staff members who are certified Community Health Workers (CHWs)? CHWs are a key component of PANOW’s model, allowing for an accessible entry point to our network of services. Recently, the organization hired a CHW Supervisor and is actively recruiting for two additional positions.

Distributed a total of $2.72 million including supports like rent assistance (474 requests), utility assistance (170 requests), and moving and hauling (66 requests).

We know safe, affordable, accessible housing is a key component of good health and are proud to partner with our regional Medicaid agencies, hospitals, and more than 200 vendors to provide the supports that help our community get and stay healthy.
