Since its inception, Project Access NOW (PANOW) has worked to increase access to healthcare and services, especially for our most vulnerable community members. Linda Nilsen, PANOW’s founder, lead the organization’s tremendous growth over the past thirteen years. Linda left the organization at the end of 2019, yet continues to serve as a consultant for the organization. As we look to the organization’s next decade (and beyond!), we are both grateful for her service and excited to spearhead PANOW’s continued success.
On behalf of the board and staff, we are happy to announce the hiring of Martin Taylor as Interim Executive Director. Martin brings with him more than 15 years of leadership experience, most recently as CEO of the Oregon Nurses Association and previously as Executive Director of Public Affairs at CareOregon. Martin is known for his dedication to equitable community health and serves and is a board member for the Oregon Latino Health Coalition, National School Based Health Alliance, Children First for Oregon, and board chair at 211info.
Martin’s focus, alongside PANOW’s Equity Team and Board of Directors, will be identifying PANOW’s permanent Executive Director, and ensuring an equity lens is upheld throughout the process. Martin shares, “It is an honor to join PANOW during this time of transition and growth. Over the coming months, I will continue to implement a detailed transition plan, ensuring the organization will thrive and grow under new leadership. I have long admired PANOW’s accomplishments, and share the board’s enthusiasm for continuing to expand access to care.”
Last year PANOW, supported the enrollment of 16,132 Oregonians in healthcare coverage, helped low-income clients access 16,816 in free or reduced cost prescriptions, aided 9,276 low-income patients in accessing transitional services upon discharge from the hospital, and so much more. Please enjoy a “sneak peek” of our annual report, which outlines these and other accomplishments during the 2018-2019 program year.
There is much to do and, as always, this work would not be possible without the dedication of our many partners and supporters, to whom we are deeply grateful.
