Dr. Jennie Leslie - Donated Care Provider - Project Access NOW

Gaining Inspiration from the Project Access Model

"I love the work I do, it’s why I get up in the morning and I would love to do even more work with Project Access NOW.”

Jennie Leslie, M.D.

Jennie Leslie, M.D., specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a focus on fibroid treatment options and general gynecological care. She was raised in a family that valued working with underserved communities and her motivation behind choosing a career in medicine was to provide care to underserved community members.

Dr. Leslie earned her Medical Degree at Mercer University in Georgia and went on to complete her residency in the Mountain Area Health and Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina. It was there that she first encountered the Project Access model.

“The Doctors there started the program to address the needs of the underserved and I am so glad that Portland has a program that is doing the same,” says Dr. Leslie. “I love the work I do, it’s why I get up in the morning and I would love to do even more work with Project Access NOW.”

Dr. Leslie has worked at the OHSU Center for Women’s Health for four and-a-half years. She is bilingual (English/Spanish) and has an interest in international healthcare. Her research includes medical and institutional ethics, underserved care and social justice, HIV and women’s health, and Latina birth outcomes. Her interest in women’s health was inspired by her mother’s feminist approach to raising her and her sister. Dr. Leslie loves being able to teach patients and students as part of her job and is a lifelong learner herself. She loves her work and hopes to expand the role of underserved care within the Center for Women’s Health. We are so grateful to Dr. Leslie and the OHSU Center for Women’s Health for their generous contributions to improving the health of our community and providing much needed care.
